How to Use This Calculator
Our stock profit calculator is designed to help you determine your exact net profit or loss from a stock trade. Simply enter your buy and sell prices, the number of shares, and any applicable fees such as commissions or stamp duty.
If you received dividends during your holding period, include them to see your total return. The calculator updates in real-time, providing you with your gross profit, net profit, and return on investment (ROI).
Formula
The stock profit formula is straightforward:
Net Profit = Total Revenue - Total Investment - Fees + Dividends
Where: Total Revenue = (Sell Price Γ Shares) - Sell Commission, and Total Investment = (Buy Price Γ Shares) + Buy Commission.
Example
Imagine you buy 100 shares at $50 each, paying a $5 commission. Your total investment is $5,005. You sell them at $60 each, paying another $5 commission, making your revenue $5,995. Your net profit is $5,995 - $5,005 = $990.
